Meet Tirath Doshi, who is an integral part of our Supporter community. Tirath was on a sabbatical during the 2nd wave of Covid in India, when he caught our founder Madhura DasGupta Sinha on CNBC. That’s around the time we launched our #NotAlone community, and Madhura was talking about the struggles of women who had lost their primary breadwinner to COVID -19. She mentioned how many of them had no idea about their family’s finances and were struggling to make sense of bank accounts, credit cards, loans, insurance policies, PF, EDLI and issues like nomination and wills, often for the very first time in their lives.
That’s when it struck Tirath that his wife Shubhi too, was not fully aware about the family’s finances! This realisation was compounded by the fact that he had recently gone through a medical issue himself. That’s when he vowed to make a change – not just within his family, but also in the wider community. He signed up as a Supporter that very day, and was surprised when he got an immediate call-back from our team.
Then on, he dedicated much of his sabbatical to helping women resolve their financial issues. Having worked with HDFC Life for 21 years and across multiple locations in India, he had connections and contacts across cities and institutions. Now, he put them to use for the members of our #NotAlone community.
There were lots of different instances where Tirath helped our members resolve insurance claim cases, mediclaim cases, issues with home loans, car loans, pension and more. He was able to help members across the country – from Udhampur (JK) to Udvada (Gujarat). He himself was pleasantly surprised at how willing his contacts were to help – once they understood the nature of the request and the gravity of the situation, they really went out of their way. Tirath’s wife Shubhi and son Parv were big supporters too and they helped him recall connections in different locations.
Thank you, Tirath Doshi – we are truly blessed to have had you as a specialist volunteer. Your sage counsel and advice plus your willingness to tap into your vast network really helped make a difference!
